Job Description

This is a non-merit position with the Department of Human Services - Woodward Resource Center . Candidates must follow the instructions in the "To Apply" section.

Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa Department of Administrative Services - Human Resources Enterprise.

Woodward Resource Center

This TEMPORARY position works AS NEEDED; Limited to 780 hours per fiscal year.

Sort soiled Laundry: Sort into carts by the sorting table. Sort sheets, diapers, tea towels, tablecloths, napkins, pillow cases, aprons, blankets, bedspreads, mops, towels and washcloths into correct carts. Weigh carts to correct weight for washers and record on designated form. Replace with empty cart. Sort laundry and count each item. Document on designated form. Sort dietary laundry and document weight. Wash dietary separate from other laundry. Sweep and disinfect tables and floors daily.

Wash laundry: Load washers with soiled linens that have been weighed. Start washer and follow a set washing formula. When washers are done, remove from washer and place in clean cart. Clean machines daily. Provide and document maintenance to machines as scheduled (daily, weekly, monthly.)

Drying laundry: Place clean wet linens into dryer (either 170/190lb.) Set the dryers according to the type of fabric that is being dried which is posted on the dryer. When linens are dry, they go to the clean linen area of the laundry. Clean lint screens as needed, or when the dryer has a message saying that it needs cleaned. Provide and document maintenance to machines as scheduled (daily, weekly, monthly.)

Clean laundry: Sort, Fold, Count and Bag for delivery/pick up. Provide appropriate documentation.

Help with laundry trucks when needed. Bring in soiled laundry, from each living unit and other buildings per schedule. Deliver clean laundry with the help of clients, to each unit as required. Perform other duties as assigned.

No specific education or experience is required.
